JAZZ at All Saints

22nd May 2010

A Unique Experience

A first ever Jazz Concert on behalf of Christian Aid will be held in All Saints on Saturday 22nd of May commencing at 7:30pm. Hear jazz featured at All Saints for the first time in 1,000 years.  It features the internationally renowned Brian Carrick and his Algiers Stompers. They arrive in Northallerton following concerts in New Orleans, Sweden and Germany. This is an opportunity to hear some World class jazz and support Christian Aid in Northallerton in raising money for the development of food security based projects in Burkina Faso, one of the poorest countries in Africa. The money we make will attract £3 in European funding for every £1 we raise.

Tickets for the concert are priced at a very reasonable £8 and can be bought in advance.

The  Algiers Stompers are named after one of the areas of New Orleans most associated with Jazz from the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Brian hails from South Shields originally and the band members have all been stalwarts of the jazz scene for many years. It is hoped that this will be the first of many jazz sessions at All Saints.

There will be refreshments available before the music and during the interval for us all to enjoy and at the same time raise money for Christian Aid.

The invitation to attend is going out to all local branches of Christian Aid to make this a major fund raising evening. Do not miss out: buy your tickets from All Saints or Greensleeves Music shop. Make this a fun evening with a serious purpose and help the cause of Christian giving. Bring your friends for a memorable evening of jazz in the unique setting of All Saints, Northallerton. Doors will be open from 7pm. for a 7:30pm start. See you there!

It's a fact

Our Lady of Mount Grace RC Church -given to the Franciscan Friars in 1655, when Catholic chapels were illegal, the chapel is concealed in the roof of the Old Hall and is invisible from the street below. Possibly the only Catholic church in which John Wesley preached
