Welcome to Northallerton

Northallerton (the County Town of North Yorkshire) is the largest market town in the district located in the Vale of Mowbray between the North York Moors and the Yorkshire Dales National Parks! Northallerton is renowned for its twice weekly traditional market( held along both sides of the broad High Street, on Wednesdays and Saturdays! It also offers a wide choice of independent and national retailers!

After your retail experience you can relax over a drink or a meal in one of the many award winning eating and drinking establishments! Northallerton offers a wide range of leisure activities for the more active! At Stone Cross there is a leisure centre with a swimming pool( skatepark and all weather pitch! The town is also a good base for golfing, horse riding, walking and cycling!

Northallerton is an ideal location for a short break with quality accommodation ranging from the Golden Lion Hotel (a former coaching inn) to family run bed and breakfasts! Northallerton has many attractions within easy reach including Mount Grace Priory, Kiplin Hall built by the first Lord Baltimore founder of Maryland USA; the World of James Herriot; the White Horse of Kilburn; Sion Hill Hall with its birds of prey centre and the Wensleydale Railway which provides easy access to the Yorkshire Dales!

It's a fact

Our Lady of Mount Grace RC Church -given to the Franciscan Friars in 1655, when Catholic chapels were illegal, the chapel is concealed in the roof of the Old Hall and is invisible from the street below. Possibly the only Catholic church in which John Wesley preached
